Christmas at the farm...my sweet memory is at my grandmother's farmhouse in Canal Winchester, Ohio. I grew up in the Columbus, Ohio area in the 1960's-70's and would always look forward to my family Christmas celebration at my Grandmother's beautiful red brick farmhouse where at least four generations would come together for a day of fellowship and fun.

One of my fondest memories is each year as a tradition, Grandma would enlist the help of her farmer to make a trip to Zanesville to purchase 10-15 pounds of Bloomer Star Vanilla Cream Peanut Clusters. All of us knew to look for the container on the buffet that held seamlessly endless amounts of the tasty delicious cream filled peanut clusters! Grandma would smile as she watched all the family members raid the chocolates throughout the day. We felt fortunate that we did not have to wait until after dinner to enjoy the chocolates although there was always room for more after dinner. Grandma would then send home with each family a container of the special treats to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

In 1994 my Grandmother passed away and the traditions seemed lost and the family spread out in the other states. For a number of years I searched to no avail in Florida for a candy that would even be similar to the Bloomer tread of my memories. Then four or five years ago a mysterious package arrived under my Christmas tree in our Florida home. I recognized the writing but couldn't figure it out. It was a package signed by my Grandmother and what was inside? My favorite wonderful chocolates from Bloomer Candy! How could that be?? Well, my dear sweet brother who had returned to the columbus area made the historical trip down memory lane and found the special vanilla cream peanut clusters and sent them to ME! He photocopied Grandma's signature and that's how it seemed so familiar!! It truly seemed like it came from my dear sweet Grandma!! So, now each year through the wonder of the internet I pass this tradition on to my family and friends in Florida by ordering the special one of a kind vanilla peanut clusters...and they all wait in great anticipation to make sure they are on my list!!!
